So I stuck my hand in the pot again, out of boredom and a drowsy misreading.
This time was the farewell between the HRE and Little Italy, and though the farewell gift was bowdlerized to a deck brush from a freshly-doffed pair of bloomers, if anything that made it more cute.
However, HRE’s line about being “sure to come back after the war” made me assume the worst, because let’s face it, that’s a p. solid death flag. So I did some historical research.
If we’re talking wars in which Austria faced many, many enemies, the prime example would be the portion of the Napoleonic Wars in which, after Napeoleon’s early victories, he formed as a client state the Confederacy of the Rhine. This was eventually formed of 35 former HRE states, and with its initial declaration the last HR Emperor formally dissolved the Empire, taking instead the title Emperor of Austria. This explains Austria’s worry and Hungary’s pain over the thought of who his enemy is, as well as the mass amounts of hinting. At the time, as well, Italy was another client state of the French Empire, making their position “together” at peace even more suitable.
Still, Hetalia being upbeat Hetalia, by no means is all lost; even over a gap of a hundred years, dissolution and resolution are just a matter of growing up, rather than played as tragic deaths as they’d be elsewhere.
i kinda wanna watch this show now.
